Bragan II is one of a series of three paintings exploring the atmosphere and character of Bragan Bog, County Monaghan.
The painting was begun en plein air during a solitary visit to the bog, capturing the atmosphere of the landscape as I experienced it that day. There was something eerie and otherworldly about Bragan; a sense of mystery and stillness that made the place feel almost untouched by time. I continued the painting in the studio, building on that initial experience and allowing the colour, energy and atmosphere of the landscape to develop further.
The result is a vibrant and atmospheric interpretation of this wild, mystical place.
