Bragan III is one of a series of three paintings exploring the atmosphere and character of Bragan Bog, County Monaghan.
I first began this painting en plein air during a solitary visit to the bog. There was something eerie and almost otherworldly about the place that day; a feeling of stillness and mystery that stayed with me long after I left. I brought that energy back into the studio, developing the painting further while retaining the immediacy and movement of the original plein air study.
The result is a vibrant, atmospheric interpretation of a place that feels both wild and almost mystical.
